Breeches assembly instructions:

Step 1.  Sew the lower legs together on each side of the breeches. If you do not have a serger, zigzag the seam after it is sewn, so that it does not unravel in use.

Step 3. Attach the privacy flap to the right leg, starting at the top and sewing down along the front of the fly.  The privacy flap should be positioned on the outside of the pants leg.

Step 5. Sew the button reinforcement strip on the left leg. Position it on the outside of the pants leg first with the bottom edge folded up. Only sew along the fly opening.

NOTE: I forgot to include this piece in the first several packets I made up.   If you have a piece of dark heavy cotton or linen that is 3”x 9” use that, if not contact me and I will send you a the piece.

Step 2.  Sew the Privacy flap together.  Turn it inside out through the top and sew along the edge to seal it.

Step 4.  fold the privacy flap over and sew it down, sealing the seam shut behind it.

Step 6.  Turn the reinforcement strip to the inside of the leg.  Fold the inermost edge under between the strip and the pants leg and sew along the edge of the folded strip to seal in teh edges.

Step 7.  Now sew the two legs together with the seam to the inside Stop when you reach the privacy flap.  Zig zag the edges of this seam. From the outside, place the reinforced area over the privacy flap and sew them together for the bottom inch of the privacy flap.

Step 8.  Fold the long waistband lengthwise. Sew up both edges and along the fold.  Then turn it inside out and sew along the long edge to seal the top edge only.

Step 9.  Pin one edge of the waistband to the inner edge of the waist of the pants and the privacy flap.  Gather the excess material and fold it all in.  Then sew it down about 1/2” from the edge.

Step 10. Fold the fabric into the waistband and fold under the outer edge and sew along it again on the outside.

Step11.Sew the edges of the cuffs together making a circle. Then pin the circle tot he bottom inside of the pants leg.  The hemed edge of the circle should not the touching the pants, but should be turned in away from it.

Step 12. Fold the unattached edge of the cuff and turn the cuff over the bottom of the pants and sew the cuff closed.

Step 13. Sew in 4 buttonholes on the reinforcement strip. Attach the buttons on the privacy flap.

Step 14. Sew the two cuff tabs together.  Turn them inside out and sew along the outer edge to seal them. Sew a button hole on each one.

Step 15 Sew the cuff tab to the cuff opposite the lower leg seam. The buttons for these will be sewn in later once they have been fitted on the actor.
